Where Is Your Focus?

Is your focus on the bottom line? If you are an entrepreneur, it probably is there more than

you'd like it to be. If you are an employee, the business' bottom line may not be even known to you, so of course your focus isn't there. If your CFO is watching things for you - and that's important so no offense meant when I say, he/she is probably focused on the bottom line as well.

Remember...

Why you started your business?

Why you went into this field as a profession?

Why you wake up each day and look forward to going to work?

When Sunday's didn't mean, "ugh! Tomorrow is Monday!"

That's because work was more about living into your passion or why. If we don't carry our purpose - our why - with us into our daily activities, we will quickly find our energy diminishing.

We must keep our focus on what's most important.

Just recently, I was chatting with a client who feared losing site of her focus on people as her company grew. She didn't want to get lost in the success.

The main thing that will help us remain focused on what is most important is our core values - first personally and then also professionally.

Values are our internal compass.

Every decision we make is filtered through our values, whether we are aware of it or not. Core values are a very powerful resource. Whenever we are living outside our values, or they are being pushed by someone else, we move out of our comfort zone and must begin the process of fighting through our fears - failure, too much success, competition, lack of knowledge - the list goes on.

What we focus on expands...

If we listen to our internal compass (our values) and keep our focus on what's truly the most important thing (why we chose this business/career/friend/etc), we will find success sweeter and the money will follow.

So do a regular check in with yourself. Ask the questions:

Why did you started your business?

Why did you go into this field as a profession?

Why do you wake up each day and look forward to going to work?

Are these the things you are focused on? Or has something caused a distraction?

Is it derailing you? Or do you need to make a change?

These are the coaching questions I'd start with. If you are looking to unpack more or are uncertain about your next step or you need to get focused in on what is important, reach out. We would love to be a thinking partner with you.
