Value Yourself: Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Comparing yourself to others is a needless distraction and an exercise in futility. Do you find

yourself wondering what your others think of you? What narrative are you playing about what they say about you? That wastes a lot of time and most likely the narrative you are creating is false.

Comparing yourself to others doesn’t motivate you to disciple, it motivates you to stop. It causes you to think one of two things:

  1. I am not good enough. Super Pastor does it better!

  2. I am doing more than the other guy!

Either of these statements gets you off the hook for being great at discipleship. You will never measure up so why try? Or I am doing the most so why do more?

To stop comparing yourself to others, ask yourself how you want to operate, and what drives you.

  1. Am I doing what I value?

  2. If not, what do I need to do to do what I value?
