By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35 (ESV)
Finding a good mentor should be something you take great care in determining before you
start following them. And then remember that they are fallible. Don’t put all your trust and hope in them just in case they do have a fall. I watched my father learn this the hard way with Jim Baker in the 80s. But also remember to offer those leaders grace and forgiveness if they fall.
An excellent way to evaluate whether someone is worth following is to determine how they live according to their values. You can use these as a guide if you don’t know what values they are precisely following. Models worth following should reflect or relate to these core values: Faith, Family Finances, Fitness, and Freedom. Someone worth following should be setting a good example or diligently working on these core values in their life.
