For everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance.” Matthew 25:29a
The reason we stretch ourselves isn’t so that we can get to a point and stop. It is so that we
can stretch more and add more, stretch more and add more, stretch more and add more… In the story of the talents those who took what was given to them and risked were rewarded not for the amount of prophet they created but because they used what they had to make more. They increased and were asked to increase again.
Yet, the one that played it safe was not only ridiculed, he was punished. The second half of Matthew 25:29 says, “But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” He wasn’t punished because he was careful to not lose what he had. He was punished because he did not try to expand what he had.
Have you settled to keep what you have, or are you stretching yourself so you can add more to be stretched more? Are you disciplining those around you to stretch and add?
